It just occurred to me this evening that here I am up to my armpits in Stampin’ Up rubber stamps living in Goodyear Arizona the town that was essentially founded by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Sort of ironic. Couple that with the fact that most of my adult life has been spent working next to a flight line—it just sort of makes me wonder did I pick Goodyear or did it pick me?
I can sit on my patio and watch the F-16s of Luke AFB in the traffic pattern, and when I go out on the main street from my house I’m in site of the Phoenix Goodyear Airport. Life is good in the Valley of the Sun!
I picked the last lemons off my tree a few days ago and have them in a box (Stampin’ Up Box of course) to take to my classes to give away. I have just this little tree and it was amazing how many lemons it produced.
I just got a Pebble Creek Kare Bear Cookbook and there was a recipe in it for lemonade. I thought I’d give it a try with some of my lemons…and oh boy is it wonderful. You slice two lemons thinly, rinds and all. Toss them in a blender with 1 c of sugar and 2 cups of water, blend it into a slush. (I froze up a bunch of slush to have for later.) Put the slush in a strainer and pour over another 3 c of water, discard the pulp. Pour over ice cubes. I then took my glass and sat on the patio and congratulated myself for picking Arizona as a retirement location.
